Remembering creates community. Memories make us human. However, one’s own past is more and more often outsourced to external hard drives, removed from the body. Always available, without loss. So will our own neurons soon become superfluous? And how do you create meaning again with an almost complete and permanently retrievable past? In Mnesia the audience enters a memorial room of active memory. By stimulating our senses in a variety of ways, we train our neurons and synapses, overwriting our memories and searching between neuroscientific facts, magical realism and subjective imagination for possible collective stories and forgotten beliefs. What emerges in the void?
