Mélanie Gobet is a Swiss-Filipino artist. She lives and works in Fribourg. As a multiform artist, she evolves between the definitions of performance art, contemporary dance and installation.
In her work, she places corporeality at the center of her research and develops protocols that work on the relationship of gesture to a material - how the body is brought into play by its interaction with an object and not the other way around. The material that occupies her attention is often the balloon, but she is generally interested in changes of state. She experiments with performative practices mainly off stage and in situ and has recently been working on notions of presence and absence - how to exist in a performance space without physical presence.
