Astrology is a doctrine that assumes a fateful influence of the stars on individual human beings, their life plan, human society and the entire earthly nature. People have always had the desire to be able to explain their confused fates - to give them a meaning. In doing so, they turned their gaze upward at an early stage. Looking for the reasons for what happens to you in life in the orbits of celestial bodies is nothing new. From Stonehenge to the pyramids of Giza, to Ronald Reagan and last but not least Beyoncé: But what is it really about? Evading responsibility for one’s own actions? Passively surrendering to one’s preordained fate? Obstacles in our Sky is a duet by dancer and choreographer Johanna Heusser with performer Jesse Inman that explores astrology as a cultural practice. Based on self-experiments and songs about the zodiac signs, they approach the subject in a humorous way.
