La Tendresse du ventre de la baleine

For this new creation, choreographer Géraldine Chollet turns her attention to the Book of Jonah, whose fabulous journey through the entrails of a fish is recounted in Judaism, Islam and Christianity. Swallowed up in the night of the sea, Jonah lives three days of intense learning and transformation, lurking in the fish’s entrails. Spat back on shore and returned to himself, Jonah will no longer flee. He will take the path of confrontation with the community, and finally, he will take the path of forgiveness. How can we dare to descend into our own dark entrails and be reborn, day after day?
For Géraldine Chollet, dance has the power to thwart preconceptions and fixed ideas. Her work seeks out the wonder and excitement of pulse. She searches for original grooves, capable of gradually generating a state of openness and availability in those who dance, as well as in those who watch. La Tendresse du ventre de la baleine is a piece of dance, music and relationships. A carnal, emotional and spiritual experience, during which it is possible to experience a time of introspection as well as connection, to experience a principle of community; something affective, tender, and vulnerable too.
