Heavy, baby is the second joint creation by Auguste de Boursetty and Alex Freiheit. It follows on from their first project What will remain secret, an ode to their first names, a subterranean invocation of their childhood memories to re-enchant their bodies. There was no hidden trauma beneath these memories, no dark secrets beneath the surface - but sometimes, in the shadows of movement and music, these seemingly innocent stories, in the cracks of laughter, small atrocities whispered.
With Heavy, Baby, the duo plunge deeper into this strange darkness that lurks beneath a light, gentle exterior. They want to expand their musical and choreographic universe, still rooted in their childhood memories, but this time populated by the creatures of their oldest nightmares. Their imaginary friends, and the spectres of those whom adulthood has forced them to forget.
Heavy, baby brings to life a kind of giant baby, furious and incomprehensible, who wants to sing a song and make you shiver. Through dance and music, they awaken inner creatures and repressed voices. A choreography that becomes like a slightly spooky Muppet Show, a space where the boundaries between the cute and the horrible become blurred, and where monsters have their say.
