Winter Solstice

Alain Roche chooses horizontality and acoustics to present his new composition WINTER SOLSTICE.
Written on the island of Fleinvaer in northern Norway, and inspired by sounds captured in nature that are imperceptible to the human ear, this single-movement score is based on the system of attraction of the stars - creating the seasons on Earth - by transposing the perpetual cycle of nature into repetitive, elastic rhythmic cells.
This piece is the starting point for the SOLSTICE TO SOLSTICE project, a daily performance at the blue hour, from winter solstice to summer solstice.
